About Winnie
The
local Humane Society knew that we wanted to adopt a dog in need. After
just missing out on an adoption by minutes, we were next on the list
to receive a call when the Humane Society received new dogs. One day
they called us and told us about a Lhaso Apso. Since this was the
size dog we were looking for, we told them we would get there as soon
as possible to check her out.
The picture on the right is of Winnie when we first saw her. The Humane
Society told us that her family was moving and they couldn't take her
with them. Winnie was just under 3 years old and was physically in good
shape. She was scared and shaking. But who wouldn't be after being given
up, taken to a strange place with other dogs, and locked in a cage?
We could see what a special girl she was and what a good temperament
she had so we decided to adopt her.
She
quickly became a member of our family. Of course it took a while to
get used to each other, but we don't think it was too tough on either
of us. Winnie is so cute she attracts all kinds of attention. When
out for her walks, or anywhere else, many people stop to tell us how
cute she is. In fact, the picture on the left was a winner in the
Pet Kingdom pet store (Algona, IA) calendar contest.
Some of her favorite
things to do include playing tuggie, going for short car rides, keeping
an
eye on the family, spending time with her
Grandma's and "Grandpaws," chasing squirrels and of course
going for walks. After those walks she runs right into the house, sits
on the mat in front of the oven just waiting for her "Winnie's
Waggers" treat.
Because Winnie came to our family from a Humane Society, a portion
of every sale will be donated to the shelter she came from and other
shelters in the area.
Keep an eye on this website. We will be posting more pictures of Winnie
as she continues to have new adventures. We are sure you will come to
love her as much as we do.
